Abstract

899,486. Outriggers for stabilizing wheeled cranes and other vehicles. ETABLISSEMENTS F. POTAIN ET CIE. Jan. 16, 1961 [Aug. 1, 1960], No. 1684/61. Class 78 (4). To stabilize a wheeled load-handling machine telescopic members 3 are extended on both sides of the vehicle by rams 7, pivoted to an outer member 4 at 6 and to a member 10 at 9. The member 10 is pivoted to the member 3 at 11 but is prevented from rotating until the member 3 reaches its outermost position by a spring 16 connected thereto by a rod 14. When the member 3 is fully extended the ram 7 rotates the member 10 anticlockwise and brings a shoe 13 into engagement with the ground. As the ram contracts the shoe 13 is first lifted after which the member 3 is retracted.
