Abstract
899,335. Making nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. April 11, 1961 [May 24, 1960], No. 18269/60. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XL (a)] A flow splitter fin assembly for a fuel element is formed by extrusion as a cylindrical body with radial fins, as shown in crosssection in Fig. 2; the cylin. drical part is then cut away so that only narrow bands are left which hold the fins 1 together. The resulting assembly can then be slid over a finned fuel element, the inner ends of fins 1 engaging slots in the fins on the element, and held in place by deformation of the bands as shown at 4. Ribs 13 may be formed by extrusion or machining.
