921,434. Fuel elements. UNITED KING- DOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. May 24, 1961 [June 9, 1960; Dec. 2, 1960], Nos. 20402/60 and 41518/60. Class 39 (4). A fuel element sheath has longitudinal heat transfer fins 3 and flow splitter fins 4; the fins 3 are corrugated, while fins 4 may be corrugated or flat. The sheath may be extruded with all the fins on it, or the splitter fins may be made separately. The corrugations may be formed during extrusion or in a separate process. A splitter fin assembly of fins and integral braces as described in Specification 899,335 may be employed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 847,214.
