Abstract

898,749. Sliding clasp fasteners. OPTIWERK G.m.b.H. & CO. July 4, 1958 [July 4, 1957], No. 21493/58. Class 44. A sliding clasp fastener has fastener elements formed by helical coils 1 of synthetic organic plastic material each attached to a stringer tape 3 of textile material having a longitudinal edge formed with or having attached a U-shaped portion 4 to partially enclose the helical coil, the U-shaped portion being provided with at least one wear resistant warp thread 6 at the place where a side flange of the sliding clasp runs. The U-shaped portion can be a separate portion sewn to the remainder of the stringer tape or alternatively it can be formed by bending over the edge of a one-piece tape. In a further construction the edge of the tape can be woven so that it has two arms. The helical coil can be sewn directly to the U-shaped portion or alternatively, as shown, it can be attached to a longitudinal cord 2, which is sewn to the U-shaped portion.
