Abstract

916,458. Sliding clasp-fasteners. RI-RI WERKE A.G. April 13, 1959 [April 12, 1958], No. 12424/59. Class 44. A sliding clasp-fastener comprises two series of fastener elements 21, the elements of each series being mounted in spaced-apart relationship on supporting cords 20 in such manner, that the elements of the respective series can interengage, head portions of the elements of the one series then engaging the supporting cord of the elements of the other series at the spaces therebetween, the head portions having recesses 24 for engagement of the supporting cords, the recesses extending in the longitudinal direction of the series and being of semicircular cross-section at a portion thereof with a radius substantially equal to that of the cord with which they are to engage. The elements are moulded on to the cords and the cords are either attached directly to the stringer tapes during the weaving of the latter by passing weft threads round each cord or alternatively each cord 20 is attached to a securing cord by means of a helical thread and the securing cord 36 is then sewn to a stringer tape. Cover cords or cover strips can be provided. The elements can be shaped to provide guide means for the slider.
