Abstract
851,946. Sliding-clasp fasteners. ALBERTS, H., and BERNT, E. W. Oct. 10, 1958 [Oct. 31, 1957; Feb. 28,1958; May 22, 1958], No. 32406/58. Class 44. A sliding-clasp fastener has elements 1 of synthetic plastic material integral with and interconnected by a continuous flexible strip 2, Fig. 1. The combined elements and strip may be woven to a tape 5, Fig. 3, the strip 2 having been positioned so as to become one selvedge warp end of the tape warp and held by the weft 3. The synthetic material is preferably extruded to form a D-shaped section with a protruberance 6 on the straight portion of the D, Fig. 4a, the elements being formed by a cutting operation. In a modification the strip 2 may be provided with an integral edge-band 9, Fig. 8, the latter being bifurcated or hollow and having a plastic strip or the tape 5 attached thereto. In a further modification the elements are formed as a strip which is passed through rollers so as to produce teeth when the strip is folded longitudinally to a D-shaped section.
