Abstract
<PICT:0898317/IV (a)/1> Particle boards are made from shavings impregnated with an adhesive by feeding the impregnated shavings continuously from a hopper on to a balance device, regulating the feed according to the position of the balance device to obtain a constant quantity by weight of shavings per unit of time, unloading the balance device continuously on to a bed plate and pressing the bed of shavings to form particle boards. Referring to the arriving shavings from hopper 1 pass to belt 2, shoot 6 and to free end of balance arm 7-stripper belt 9 and stripper roller 11 removing excess shavings from the belt 2. When too little shavings reach arm 7 with conveyer belt 15, the arm pivots upwards to meet contact 27 and complete a circuit which causes motor 3 to increase in speed so delivering more shavings; similarly too many shavings move arm to contact 28 so slowing motor 3. Motor 14 operating belt 15 acts as the balance counterweight as also does adjustable chain 30.
