Abstract

1,021,201. Conveying batches of toilet paper. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. July 17, 1962 [May 2, 1961], No. 15784/61. Heading B8A. A batch of toilet paper 11 is conveyed by a pusher 16 of chain conveyer 17 to station 15. At station 15 a plurality of the batches is pushed rightwards by respective pushers 19 over on to plate 21, slots 27 and 28 being provided for the passage of pushers 19 to ensure that the bottommost sheet is included in the batch. Each batch is thus deposited'on a support 29 and is pressed thereon from above by a spring impelled pad 31. Each pad and its corresponding support 29 is screw threaded upon respective parallel shafts 34 and 42 so that they form nuts adapted to be conveyed by the respective screws. The screws formed on shafts 34 and 42 are of diminishing diameter so that as the shafts are driven the screws thereon are displaced by differing amounts so that the batches are separated one from another. Thereafter each batch is displaced to the right by a pusher 66 which is operated by cam 76 (Fig. 1, not shown), roller 77 and arm 78. In order that each pusher 66 upon its return journey shall not contact an approaching batch each pusher is elevated as it returns by the operation of cam 83 which moves downwards against roller 96 to pivot the pusher upwards. To effect this movement cam 83 is carried by member 94 which is operated via arm 93 by cam 89 and follower roller 91. Each batch 11 is then conveyed into the waiting pockets 97 of a conveyer 98 by a rack 99 which moves with a cyclic movement.
