Abstract

In apparatus of the kind in which granular material is impelled in the form of a jet through a conveying duct 17 by dropping it on to the upper run of a high-speed belt 11, the duct and the casing in which the belt is mounted are so connected that adjustment of the position of the duct effects automatically an adjustment in the position of the belt which ensures that the jet of material is still introduced into the duct parallel to its axis. The apparatus is supported by a pair of spaced uprights 21 mounted on a base-plate 22 which can turn about a vertical axis 24. The shaft 42 of the return pulley 16 for the belt is carried by a pair of brackets 43, each of which is mounted on an arm 44 pivoted to a bracket 46 on an upright. A bracket 47 on each arm carries a bearing block 48 which is movable in a guideway 49 attached to each side of a casing 41. This casing is pivotally mounted on a shaft 39 carried by a bracket 40 and is connected to the duct 17. The position of the plates containing the guideways 49 is adjusted by screws 52. Material is directed on to the belt from the supply 10 by plates 28, 29, the latter of which is adjustable.
