Abstract

In apparatus for weighing out powdered or granular material, a weigh belt 31 is so suspended by frames 30, 51 and 29 from a tube 28 pivotally supported from a pair of interconnected pivoted beams 17 that an integrating device connected to the beams 17 is actuated in accordance with the deflection of the beams 17 due to the weight of material on the belt 31 at any instant, whereby the total amount of material conveyed by the belt 31 over an extended period is obtainable. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, a hopper 72 supplies material to a conveyer which may be a screw or belt conveyer but which, as shown, is a spiral conveyer 79 driven by a chain drive 84 connected to an adjustable motor assembly 82, 83. The material is directed on to the weigh belt 31 which is mounted for rotation on the frame 30, 51 by pulleys 35, 36, pulley 35 of which is driven at a constant speed by an electric motor 52. The weigh belt 31 is entirely suspended from the beams 17 which are provided with a counter-balance weight 60, a pendulum resistant 57 and an adjustable weight 64 to facilitate correct adjustment of the apparatus and also a link 68 which actuates the integrating device (not shown) in accordance with the deflection of the beams. The apparatus is provided with skirt boards 48, Fig. 3 (not shown), to guide the material on its journey along the weigh belt and also with a baffle 85, Figs. 9 to 11 (not shown), in the form of a bent metal plate provided with a curtain of flexible material to ensure even feeding of material from the weigh belt to a shoot 96.
