Abstract
898,211. Respiratory apparatus. NORMALAIR Ltd. April 11, 1960 [July 18, 1959], No. 24756/59. Class 81 (2). A rotatable breathing- tube 7 for use with a face mask carries a flexible sleeve 13 at one end and is secured at the other end to the mask by a body 1 which is rotatable relative to the mask and which houses manually operable valve means controlling the flow of gas through the breathing-tube. A hollow body 1 is secured to a face mask or helmet of underwater breathing-apparatus by a ring 3 and has a branch inlet 11 to which is fitted the breathing-tube 7 through which the user may obtain air from above the water. A hollow conical valve member 5 having a peripheral opening 6 is rotatable in the body 1 by a lever 8 to bring the opening into or out of register with the inlet 11 thus controlling communication between the breathing-tube and the mask. The position of the free end of the breathing-tube may be varied by rotating the body 1 relative to the mask. A flexible tube 13 which may be of rubber is a push fit on the breathing-tube and may be used to supply gas from a wearer's breathing- apparatus to a second person in an emergency.
