Abstract

897,649. Variable resistors; mounting terminals. MORGANITE RESISTORS Ltd. Aug. 17, 1959 [Aug. 27, 1958], No. 27534/58. Classes 37 and 38 (1). A variable resistor comprises a cylindrical insulating housing, a resistance track carried by the inner cylindrical surface of the housing and at least one contact extending through to the outside and jammed between an abutment formed within the housing and the resistance track. As shown, a terminal 9 is inserted through a hole 10 in the insulating housing 1 and pulled downwards so that its tail portion 11 becomes jammed between an annular abutment 8 and the resistance track 6. Alternatively the wings 12 may be bent so that they lie on opposite sides of the terminal 9. The insulating rotor 18 is carried by the reduced end of the spindle 5 and carries a metal ring 20 which is attached to a wiping contact 25. The metal ring 20 is in contact with a fixed collector ring 27 which extends through the side of the housing 1 to form a second terminal.
