897,374. Washing vegetables and fruit. INDUSTRIELLE TECHNIK GES. FUR. March 23, 1960 [March 24, 1959], No. 10220/60. Class 28 (2). [Also in Group XXIII] In a washing-machine for dishes, fruit, and vegetables, an electric motor 9, Fig. 1, is mounted beneath the floor 14 of the washing chamber for. rotating at least two shafts extending through the floor 14, and on one of which is detachably mounted a cage 5 for containing the articles to be washed. Another spindle may carry an impeller 20, Fig. 3, for throwing up a spray of washing water which is introduced into the washing chamber through an inclined nozzle 16 having a ball joint mounting 15. In a modification for use for cleaning potatoes or applies a brush 28, Fig. 4, mounted on one of the spindles extends through an annular slot in the base of the rotary cage 23 for containing the potatoes or applies. The brush 28 may have hard bristles or be replaced by a disc having a rough surface for peeling the potatoes.
