Abstract

A floor or carpet treating machine comprises a horizontal rotary disc-type brush having on its upper face concentric ridges and a central boss from which impeller blades extend to distribute liquid, dye-stuff, steam or the like to apertures through the brush. The brush shown is provided with six impellers 28, 29 which distribute the liquid supplied between the impellers substantially uniformly to the apertures 25 provided in concentric grooves in the brush back. A cover may be provided over the back of the brush and may carry the impellers. An alternative brush (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown) is provided <PICT:0789223/IV (b)/1> <PICT:0789223/IV (b)/2> with shorter radial impellers and the liquid is supplied through radial apertures near the base of the boss. As shown, the bristles are secured by wires but it is stated that they could be mounted on T-section slides inserted in slide-ways. A bayonet joint couples the brush shown to the machine and it is stated that the impeller blades could be arranged to form dogs for engaging the lower end of the driving shaft.
