Abstract
227,863. Navarre et Fils, P. Jan. 18, 1924, [Convention date]. Plates, dishes, and the like, washing.- The dishes &c. carried in openwork baskets on a grid 8, Fig. 9, within a casing are acted on by washing and rinsing sprays from nozzles 65 each supported upon the casing by a universal joint 67<a> Fig. 2, and connected to the water supply by a flexible tube 15a so that the spray may be directed by a handle 67 to any point on the dishes. The nozzles 65 may be used in conjunction with rotary or fixed spraying devices 16, 16<c> and may have valves for cutting off the water supply, or as shown in Fig. 2 may be adapted to give either a concentrated jet or a distributed spray at will. Through the hollow handle 67 and tuba 66 passes the rod 71 of a valve 75 controlling the outlet 76 of the nozzle 65, a spring 77 normally keeping the valve closed so that the liquid passes through passages 78 to small orifices 80 in a surrounding member 79 and gives a distributed spray. By pressing a lever 69 the valve 75 is lifted, opening the outlet 76 and closing the passages 78 so that a concentrated jet is obtained. Fig. 10 shows a small machine for domestic use in which cold water is supplied through a tube 91 and valve 90 to an ejector 88 that draws hot water from a tank ,87, the warm water passing to the universally adjustable nozzle 65a arranged in the removable cover 85 of the casing 84. A number of adjustable nozzles may be connected by links so as to be operated by a single handle. The ball joint 67<a> may be replaced by a cardan joint or by a spiral spring fixed to the tube 66 and to the casing; this spring may be covered with or embedded in rubber. In modifications the spray nozzle is slidable as well as angularly adjustable in the casing, and a pump may be arranged to supply water to the nozzle from a reservoir within the casing. In the form shown in Fig. 9 after preliminary washing by the jets from nozzles 16, 16<c> the valve 30 in the supply pipe for these nozzles is closed whereupon water passes to the nozzle 65. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also a form in which rotary nozzles 16, 16a, Fig. 1 (Cancelled) arranged above and below the basket 7 containing the dishes comprise hollow arms rotatable on spindles 17 and with orifices so arranged that the reactions of the jets rotate the nozzles, the liquid being supplied through pipes 15 by a pump 3 from a reservoir 2 heated by gas jets 12 and having an overflow pipe 10. Rinsing water is sprayed by fixed nozzles 23, 23a each comprising an interior nozzle 24, Fig. 5, (Cancelled) with passages 27, 28 and an exterior nozzle 23 having an outlet 29, the annular space 25 containing a metallic spiral 26 which gives a gyratory motion to the jet. The valve 21, Fig. 9, supplying the rinsing liquid is controlled through a sleeve 36 and lever 35 by lateral movement of a, handle 37 against a spring 40 while rocking movement of the handle operates, through lever 34, connecting rod 33 and lever 32, the valve 30 for the washing fluid. Verticallysilding doors 6, Fig. 9 (Cancelled), closing the inlet and outlet apertures for the dishes are connected by a flexible cable 52 for simultaneous movement and counterbalanced by a spring winding drum around which the cable passes. The washing operation may be watched through a window 41 and another window permits illumination of the interior by an external lamp. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
