Abstract

897,132. Centrifugal switches. HEINZMANN, F. Jan. 11, 1960 [Jan. 24, 1959; Dec. 5, 1959], No. 1018/60. Class 38 (5). In a centrifugal switch a rotor 2 has pivoted thereon at 3 a fly-weight 1 (Fig. 5) urged inwards by a spring 7. At speeds above a set figure, the flyweight 1 pivots outwards and the end 5a of one arm 5 strikes a corresponding arm 14 of a rocker 10 pivoted on a stationary switch part 13. The bowed springs 17, 18 cause the rocker 10 to move with a snapaction and close contacts 19, 22. When the speed falls below the set figure, the flyweight 1 pivots inwards and the rear end 6b of flyweight arm 6 moves outward, striking arm 15 of the rocker 10 to close contacts 20, 23 instead. By connecting the drive circuit for the rotor 2 to contact 19 and terminal 21; contact 20 and terminal 21; or to contacts 19 and 20, the driving speed is maintained above a set speed; below a set speed; or between two set speeds, respectively. In a second embodiment (Fig. 9), the flyweight 24 has broad projections 28, 29 which strike the rocker arms 14, 15, the projection 29 being urged outward by a coil-spring located between it and the rotor 2.
