Abstract

896,984. Beams. ANDERSON Ltd., A. H. June 19, 1958 [June 19, 1957], No. 19385/57. Class 20(4) Beams of the type having upper and lower chords of solid or laminated timber spaced by two or more parallel webs, are constructed with discontinuous webs, with spaces between each web plate and have internal stiffeners extending between the two chords within the beam and being secured to the webs by its opposite edges. As disclosed in Fig. 1 the upper and lower chords 10, 11 have web plates 14 having gaps 15 and the stiffeners are shown at 19. In Fig. 3 the web plates 26 are arranged in pairs alternately reversed and the beam is terminated by webs 14A. Stiffeners 25 also help reinforce the joints of the web plates.
