Abstract

896,840. Electromagnetic relays. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. Nov. 28, 1958 [Nov. 28, 1957], No. 37093/57. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXXVI] A relay has a U-shaped magnetic frame 16 with the armature 22 pivoted at 20 on one limb 18 and the other limb 27 carrying an armature back-stop 29 and an insulating adjustable card 40 for the fixed contact springs. The armature 22 is biased toward the adjustable stop 29 by a spring 35 acting between the armature and a seat 33 retained by lock-nuts 34 on a screw 32. A stack of fixed and moving contact-springs 36 is mounted on each side of the frame 22 with actuating cards 44 passing through all the springs and engaging the moving contact springs. An insulating beam 45 has pins 46 engaging notches in the cards 44 and is mounted on the underside of the armature. The coil 23 is mounted on a core 23a which has one end secured to the frame 16 and the other end presents a pole face for engagement by residual pins 26 on the armature. The frame 16 and contact stacks are mounted on a moulded resin base 11 to which a transparent moulded cover 14 is secured and sealed. The relay plugs into a mounting base (Figs. 5 and 6, not shown).
