Abstract
894,882. Masts for sailing craft. PEARCE, K. P. Dec. 1, 1960 [Dec. 28, 1959], No. 43989/59. Class 115. A fore-and-aft rigged sailing craft has a rotatably mounted mast 10 and a boom 23 which automatically turns the mast when it swings horizontally beyond either of two limit positions. The boom 23 is attached to the mast 10 by a gooseneck comprising a slider 24 having lugs 25 between which is pivotally mounted a rocker 26 which pivotally supports a bolt 28 connected to the boom 23. The rocker 26 has two projections 29 which form the limit positions of possible movement of the boom 23 relative to the mast 10. The slider 24 may be clamped in any position on the slideway 12 by the screw 32. Excessive rotation of the mast 10 is prevented by stop blocks 16 which engage a lug 17 on the deck step 14.
