Abstract

894,747. Respiratory masks. UNITED TANKS Inc. Nov. 13, 1958, No. 36561/58. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group VII] A retaining-means for a helmet and a face mask 10 comprises a rigid saddle member 15 carried by the face mask, an upper strap 23 and a pair of lower straps 21 extending from the saddle member to the helmet, a latch bolt 28 at the extremity of each strap and a keeper housing 30 for each latch bolt secured to the sides of the helmet at spaced fixed points thereon and dual latch levers 37 pivotally mounted in each housing to engage in notches 29 in the latch bolts 28. A cross-strap 26 extends under the chin of the wearer and is joined to the straps 21. In a modification shown in Fig. 2 the ends of the straps 21, 23 are joined to a common latch bolt 28a, the straps 21 being provided with adjustment buckles 41. The saddle member 15 may be integral with the face mask 10 or it may be removable therefrom.
