893,478. Vehicle steering gear. CAM GEARS Ltd. July 11, 1958 [July 16, 1957], No. 22502/57. Class 80 (1). In a vehicle steering gear wherein a screw 1 on a steering column 2 engages a nut 3 having a transverse groove 9 engaged by a roller 10 on a rocker arm 11, the nut is held against rotation by a rectilinear guide groove 6 in the gear housing 7, the walls of groove 6 being engaged by a roller 5 mounted on the nut diametrically opposite the groove 9. The roller 10 is conical, its depth of mesh in the groove 9 being controlled by an adjusting screw 15. One or more turns of recirculating balls are provided between the threads of the screw-and-nut.
