A vehicle steering gear comprises a steering shaft 1 on which is mounted a pinion 3 meshing with a rack 4 which is connected to or continuous with a further rack 5 meshing with a gear sector 6 linked to at least one steerable road wheel 10. Steering of another road wheel 13 may be either via a track-rod 11 or by an additional set of racks 4, 5 and gear sector 6 of the opposite hand, the pinion 3 being sandwiched between the racks 4.
