Class 131 [Also in Group XXXVI] A dry shaver comprises a cutting head 2 at one end of a casing 1 which encloses a direct current motor 3, the other end of the casing being closed by interchangeable caps carrying connector and/ or circuit members for alternative power sources, viz. external or internal battery or mains supply. The caps have projections 19, 20 which engage in recesses 67 in internal clip members 66 provided at the sides of the casing and having guide grooves receiving mounting and contact springs 6, 7 and contact members of the power source, the grooves being differently spaced at each side to prevent connection with the poles reversed. As shown in Fig. 1 mounting and contact springs 6, 7 from the motor engage contact members 15, 16 of a battery 10 mounted on a resilient member 21 in a cap 17. For operation by an external battery, the battery 10 is removed and the cap 17 is replaced by a cap 22 (Fig. 3) having terminals 23 for a lead 24 from a car plug 29, or other plug or clamping connection, a terminal board 25 connected to a resistance 26 and contacts 27, 28 for the contact springs 6, 7. For connection to a mains supply a cap having a transformer and rectifier is substituted and in a modification, the transformer and rectifier are provided in a mains plug which may have a socket in which a car plug is inserted perpendicularly to the direction of the mains plug pins. As shown in Figs. 12 and 13, springs 6, 7 are welded to a motor casing 56 at 69, pins 68 moulded to the casing 1 aiding in positioning the battery 10, and the moulded parts 48, 49 of the casing 1 are held together along contacting edges by clips 64<SP>1</SP> and resilient pins 65<SP>1</SP> inserted through thickened portions, the motor being secured without direct screwing to the casing 1, by screws 51 and nuts 54 which secure the motor casing 56 and projections 55 of the parts 48, 49 of the casing 1 to an end plate 50 which is externally threaded for adjustment of a ring 75, carrying the cutting plate 74, relatively to the rotating cutter 71 mounted directly on the motor shaft 70. A switch lever 5 has a button 64 projecting through a resilient mask 65 which retains the lever in on and off positions.
