Abstract
892,576. Stuffing-box substitutes. FICHEL & SACHS A.G. March 1, 1960 [May 16, 1959], No. 7288/60. Class 122 (5). A sealing and bearing device for a piston-rod 3 of a telescopic shock-absorber or hydro-pneumatic spring device comprises a bearing 10 of polytetrafluoroethy lene or ethylene glycol adipinic acid polyester. The bearing 10 has a spherical or conical outer surface which contacts a correspondinglyshaped sheet-metal housing 9 and a flat or coned inner surface which contacts a similarly - shaped sealing gland washer 7 gripped between the housing 9 and a thrust-ring 8. The device is held on the end of a reservoir cylinder 1 between a shoulder 5 and the inturned end of the reservoir wall 6. To exclude dust from the bearing surfaces the bearing 10 has a lip-shaped dust wiper 11 at its outer end.
