Abstract

892,563. Thrust bearings. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. July 28, 1960 [Aug. 19, 1959], No. 26249/60. Class 12 (1). In a thrust-bearing the bearing surface has deformations distributed thereon, said dedeformations being capable of predetermined initial wear to provide a greater thrust load receiving area. In an embodiment a crank-shaft 10 has thrust collars 11 separated by a bearing portion 12 having upper and lower thrust-bearings 13, 14 mounted thereon and retained by members 16, 17 respectively. The bearing surfaces 18 have uniformly distributed plateaus 21 with valleys 22 therebetween which retain lubricant therein.
