Abstract

890,985. Flue doors. SKOGLUND & OLSON A.B. Sept. 19, 1960 [Sept. 23, 1959], No. 32169/60. Class 25 An inspection door in a chimney flue comprises a frame having a sealing surface positioned at an oblique angle to the horizontal and two brackets with upwardly directed open slots and a door flap suspended in the slots, wherein the flap has a resilient stop capable of moderating the opening movement of the flap on displacement beyond a certain opening angle. The flap 2 is suspended in an inclined position against the obliquely disposed sealing surface in the frame by a shaft 4 journalled in upwardly open slots in brackets 6 integral with the frame. The flap has a dog 9 movably mounted on the shaft which dog is loaded by springs 10 so that when the flap is closed it is pressed against an abutment 11 integral with the flap and on opening the flap the dog strikes wall frame and the springs act to moderate the opening movement. A shoulder 13 on the wall frame above the dog prevents the flap from leaving the slots in the brackets 6 when the flap is open and the bottom surface of each slot is inclined downwardly from its outer to its inner end and forms a right angle with a line connecting the lower edge of the flap and its axis of suspension.
