A flue gas collector 1 for connecting a horizontal cylindrical boiler to a smoke flue comprises parallel offset inlet and outlet sockets 2 and 3 and an aperture which is closed by spring - urged flap 4 pivoted by a hook-shaped part 6 about a pivot-pin 7. The flap is provided with sealing cord around the aperture and its inner surface is inclined to present a low resistance to flow. Springs 5 may be moved aside to allow the flap to be removed to facilitate cleaning.
