889,896. Weighing apparatus. KONINKLIJKE INDUSTRIEELE MAATSCHAPPIJ VOORHEEN NOURY & VAN DER LANDE N.V. Oct. 13, 1960 [Nov. 20, 1959], No. 35131/60. Class 143. In an automatic feed weigher which delivers powdered or like material to a receptacle on a weigh beam, the final stage of the feed comprises the alternate operation, under the control of the weigh beam, of a dribble feed valve and a device for withdrawing excess material. As shown a screw feeder 12 delivers the material to a feed spout with two outlets respectively controlled by electrically operated slides comprising a bulk feed valve 13 and a dribble feed valve 14. The receptacle 1 is guided by leaf spring 2 and acts, through linkage 3, on a weigh beam 4 which operates switches 7 and 8 controlling the actuators 15, 16 of valves 13, 14 respectively to provide the conventional two-stage feed. When the weigh beam tilts a switch 9 actuates a valve 19 to admit pneumatic pressure to a tube 17 and expel material through an outlet pipe 18 until the beam rebalances. The thus constituted feed-off device operates in alternation with the dribble feed until balance is achieved. Discharge is by electrically controlled operation, which may be automatic, of the pivoted gate 10.
