Abstract

1,166,995. Weighing apparatus. H. W. BURRY. Jan. 17, 1967. [Oct. 18, 1965], No. 44026/65. Heading G1W. Apparatus for measuring out predetermined quantities by weight of liquid comprises a liquid weighing container C provided with inlet and outlet valves M and O which are actuated through a pneumatic relay N by a controller valve L, the controller valve L being adjusted in response to the weight of liquid in the container C so as to effect cut-off of liquid supply when a predetermined weight of liquid is in the container C and to initiate discharge of the liquid from the container C. The container C is suspended from a weighing spring J<SP>1</SP> by a rod J which engages a pivoted bellcrank lever K engaging the controller valve L. The controller valve L is arranged to connect a vacuum line E to the ralay N when the container C is being filled with liquid and to a container B forming part of a liquid supply arrangement when the container C is of the predetermined weight, the container C then being connected to atmosphere through the relay N so as to close the valve M and urge a diaphragm P to open the valve O for discharge purposes. The supply arrangement comprises two containers A and B inter-connected at their tops and bottoms. A discharge pipe C 4 connected to the outlet of the weighing container C may be provided with a recording device in the form of a vacuum operated ratchet device to record the total weight of liquid measured by the apparatus and also with a sampling device for testing the liquid. The apparatus may be used for measuring and recording quantities of milk.
