Abstract
937,268. Weighing apparatus. H. W. BURRY. Aug. 16, 1962 [Aug. 22, 1961], No. 30257/61. Class 143. [Also in Group I] A milk-flow recorder comprises a tray 3 subdivided into two compartments 11, 12 by a partition 10 and mounted on knife edges 8 directly below a milk delivery pipe 5 communicating with a milk reservoir 1. Milk flows into the compartment 11 which remains in the up-tilted position until it contains a predetermined weight of milk, the tray 3 then tilting into the position shown in broken lines to discharge the milk into the housing 2 and to a milk line via outlet 7. The compartment 12 is then in the up-tilted position and the cycle repeated. Valves 13 control the admission of air to a constant vacuum line 14 and are operated by push rods 15 which are actuated by the corresponding edge portion of the tray as it is tilted into its uppermost position. This causes the vacuum in the line 14 to be broken and a pressure impulse is transmitted through the line 14 to a counting device 20 comprising a spring-loaded diaphragm 21 carrying a stem 22 connected to a pawl 23 which engages a ratchet wheel to move a pointer over a dial or to operate counting means.
