Abstract

1329727 Dispensing measured quantities of liquid EASTMAN KODAK CO 24 Sept 1970 [24 Sept 1969] 45552/70 Heading B8N [Also in Division F1] A solution metering apparatus comprises a vacuum source for introducing solution from a supply to a container, limiting means being provided coupled between the vacuum source and the container for limiting the quantity of solution introduced to a predetermined volume. As shown the limiting means each comprise a flexible bag 38 which expands within a chamber 34 when a vacuum pump 30 is on causing solution to fill containers 12 to levels B. Adjustable stops 46 determine the bags' expansion and hence the volume of solution introduced. By setting an axially movable pipe 18 to the desired metered quantity, read from an index 28, and opening a vent valve 62 solution drops to level C and the remaining solution is dispensed through pipe 24 when a valve 26 is opened. The bags 38 may be resilient to permit deflation or be deflated by springs 42, a foam rubber pad, or by pressure from the pump 30 acting through conduits 54, 35 with valves 58, 48 closed and valve 52 open. The bags 38 may be replaced by expandable resilient bellows. Each chamber 34 may be mounted directly on the top of a container 12 and contain a bellows (68), Fig. 5 (not shown), incorporating a spring (70).
