Abstract

1,048,252. Milk measuring devices. GASCOIGNES (READING) Ltd. Oct. 3, 1963 [July 3, 1962], No. 25361/62. Heading A1M. A milk measuring appliance comprises a receptacle 1 connected via pipeline 11 to the vacuum line 9 and via pipe 4 with a teat cup cluster 5, and a transparent milk delivery tube 15 extending alongside the receptacle and connected at its upper end with a three-way valve 12 communicating also with the interior of the receptacle 1 and at its lower end with a milk outlet 16 at the base of the receptacle. The valve 12 is further connected with pipe 13 with the milk line 21. In one position of valve 12, tube 15 is connected to the vacuum space 20 above the milk in receptacle 1. During milking, milk flows into receptacle 1 which communicates with tube 15 via outlet 16 the accumulating quantity of milk being indicated on scale 18. Valve 12 is then adjusted so that tube 15 communicates with the milk line, air being admitted to receptacle 1 via the teat cups and the milk passing up tube 15 into the milk line. A milk sampling tap 17, which may also be used to admit air to receptacle 1, is provided.
