Abstract

The measuring glass for a milking machine has a milk inlet at the top from the teat cups, also a connection to a vacuum pipe with a stop valve having an inlet for atmospheric air. There is also a milk outlet with a further step valve, and an indicator scale. The milk outlet (3) has, in addition to its stop valve (15), a seat (22) at the top for a ball-shaped float valve body (21), movable freely in the measuring glass. Both the stop valves (15, 16) can be vacuum-operated. The design automatically shuts off the outlet when the glass is empty, thus avoiding spoilage of the milk by the ingress of air into the system.
