Abstract
1,250,936. Milking apparatus. ALFA-LAVAL CO. Ltd. 5 June, 1970 [5 June, 1969], No. 28436/69. Heading A1M. Mechanical milking apparatus for withdrawing a sample of milk collected in a recording jar 1 attached by line 2 to milk teats and by line 3 to vacuum comprises a flexible sampling tube 6 connected between a sampling container and the milk transfer tube 4 from the recording jar, the sampling tube being provided with a ring 10 or a valve 12 (fig. 2, not shown) to open and close the tube to the atmosphere. On completion of milking with the recording jar under vacuum the sampling tube 6 is opened such that entry of air stirs the milk, the tube is then closed, connected to the sampling container and then opened to reduce the pressure in the sampling container and when the line 2 is opened to the atmosphere by removing the teat cups milk flows through the transfer line and into the sampling container.
