Abstract

1333181 Pneumatic conveyers PRECISION METALSMITHS Inc 26 April 1971 [9 July 1970] 11288/71 Heading B8A [Also in Divisions B1 E2 and G1] In apparatus for weighing out powdered material and mixing it with liquid and other materials (see Divisions G1 and B1), a pneumatic transfer system is provided to convey the weighed powder from a weigh hopper 11 to a mixing vessel 65. As shown, with the weighed powder in the hopper 11 an electric switch is actuated to switch on vibrators 12 on the hopper and simultaneously to actuate an aerator 84 and to connect a vacuum source 75 with a conduit 70 connecting the hopper 11 to the mixing vessel 65. At the end of a preset period set by a timer 83 the vacuum source 75 is shut-off together with the vibrators 12 and the aerator 84. Pinch valves 71, 80 which can be actuated by a compressed air source under the control of solenoid operated valves 73, 82 are arranged to control the pneumatic transfer of the powder from the hopper 11 and subsequently to isolate the pneumatic transfer system from a vacuum line 115 connected to the mixing vessel.
