888,733. Cables. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Oct. 12, 1960, No. 34935/60. Class 36. A coaxial cable comprises an inner conductor 1, loosely surrounded by a plastic tube 2 such that at least two insulating filaments, cords or tapes 3 wrapped helically round the tube, whilst still warm, draws it into contact with conductor 1; the return conductor 4 and the protective sheath 5 are then applied over the deformed tube. The filaments 3 are wrapped helically round tube 2 with opposite lays to so deform tube 2 from opposite sides as to provide a number of sealed compartments along the length of the inner conductor. Air under pressure can be passed into tube 2 during the application of filaments 3. Conductor 1 may be copper wire, tube 2 may be of nylon or of "Terylene" (Registered Trade Mark), a polypropylene, polythene, polystyrene, or P.T.F.E., filament 3 may be of nylon or " Terylene," and conductor 4 may be of aluminium or copper.
