Class 112 [Also in Group XXV] A sliding clasp fastener element is made on a sewing machine by bending into sinuous form a plastic wire 13 about the alternate needles 4, 5 of a twin needle sewing machine, by means of an oscillating wire-laying guide 14, and attaching the wire to a pair of cords 1, 2 guided by a bar 8 positioned between the needles, a plunger 10 fixed to the needle bar 9 flattening the wire as at 17 on the upper edge of guide 8 and after the wire has been softened by hot air blown thereon through nozzles 11, 12. As shown the upper edge of the guide 8 is bevelled. In a modification guide 8 has a concave upper surface. The element is secured to a tape 19 by a needle 18 as shown in Fig. 5.
