Abstract

<PICT:0732993/IV (c)/1> <PICT:0732993/IV (c)/2> In a dyeing and setting machine, the stockings, supported on formers, are subjected in succession to a first setting operation, a dyeing operation by means of a bath and a second setting operation. Stockings 3, applied to formers 2 on a conveyer belt 1 at station B, Fig. 1, move in the direction A and are fed on to a carriage 4, Fig. 2, and thence to an oven 5 where they are set by steam. The carriage leaves the oven and is moved across to a dyebath 6. On leaving the bath the carriage is moved into a further setting oven 7 and thence to station G where the formers are fed back on to the conveyer belt 1, the finished stockings being removed at H. A foam dyeing process may be used, the dyeing taking about the same time as the setting. The dyeing and setting may take place in a single chamber.
