Abstract

887,035. Glass fibres. COMPAGNIE DE ST.- GOBAIN. July 18, 1960 [Aug. 7, 1959], No. 24922/60. Class 56. Thermoplastic material such as glass is projected in streams from rows of holes 3 in the the wall 2 of a hollow rotor 1 into a gaseous attenuating current confined between part of the wall 2 and an exterior wall 6. The walls 2 and 6 may converge downwardly to produce a tapered space between. In the form shown, the attenuating current emerges from a slot 5 in a combustion chamber 4. The wall 6 is cooled, The lower part of the wall 2 is heated by induction from a coil 9. An additional concentric blowing crown 7, with orifice 8, is provided. Specification 887,036 is referred to.
