In the production of glass-wool or the like wherein a flow of freely descending molten material 6 is deflected at an angle through a nozzle 14, the separation of the flow of molten material into fibres is effected by the air which is drawn through the nozzle by a sheath 12 of vapour issuing from a nozzle cavity and surrounding or embracing the fibre-separation zone.
