Abstract

938,482. Forming glass fibres. OWENSCORNING FIBERGLAS CORPORATION. Oct. 15, 1959, No. 22441/63. Divided out of 938,481. Drawings to Specification. Class 56. When forming fibres of heat-softenable vitreous material by projecting streams of the material by centrifugal force outwardly from a rotating annular body of the material, heat is supplied to the environment of the body and the streams so that the streams continue to lose heat, but at a slower rate than in the absence of the heat supply, the heat being supplied and controlled independently of the traction forces. One of the embodiments used is the same as described in Specification 938,481. Others are described in Specification 849,981.
