Abstract

885,828. Endless conveyers. AUER MUHLENWERKE KOMM.-GES. AUF AITKEN, HEINR. Nov. 13, 1959 [Nov. 13, 1958], No. 38598/59. Addition to 854,646. Class 78 (1). The invention of the parent Specification is modified in that the continuous trough is formed by a series of U-shaped elements 11 which are secured by their bases to an endless belt 2 and each of which has a V-shaped projection on its trailing edge and a V-shaped recess in its leading edge, these mating with the projections and recesses of adjacent elements when the belt 2 is in tension but separating therefrom when passing over a discharge wheel. The arrangement is said to render the trough self-cleaning since when the elements separate and pass downwardly over the discharge wheel, material is shed from the recesses and projections. The conveying run is supported on idler rollers and idler rollers may also engage within the trough on the return run. A rotary cleaning brush may replace one of the idler rollers on the return run.
