Abstract

885,722. Roofs and walls of buildings. McKEE, J. R. March 11, 1958 [June 13, 1957], No. 7833/58. Class 20(4) [Also in Groups XXII and XXV] An insulating panel assembly is secured to a structural member 1 of a roof or wall, Fig. 2, by studs 3 (see Group XXV) each comprising a shank 4 with spaced shoulders 5, 6 extended by screwed parts. Screwed part 7 is passed through a hole in a panel 2 to cut a thread in member 1, and clamp the panel thereto by shoulder 6, with or without the interposition of a sealing washer 9. A layer of insulating material 10 is impaled on the studs and then panel 12 is impaled over the protruding screwed ends which are formed to make holes in the panel, to engage shoulders 5. Panel 12 is secured by nuts 15 with or without sealing washers 9a. In another arrangement, an insulating panel 20, Fig. 3, is secured by threadcutting ends of the studs to member 21, and a panel 22 is spaced therefrom on the other screwed ends.
