883,978. Eddy-current clutches. COMPAGNIE DE CONSTRUCTION MECANIQUE. PROCEDES SULZER. Dec. 30, 1959 [Aug. 20, 1959], No.44325/59. Class 35. An eddy-current clutch has a fixed field core 1 and winding 2, and magnetic driving and driven members 3, 4 each of which has longitudinal copper tubes 5, 6 embedded in its surface which serve to carry the induced eddy currents and also cooling air from fan blades 7. Round tubes are threaded into the rotor slots and then externally pressed to produce the shape illustrated. In a modification the tubes have two lobes instead of one. Specification 793,854 is referred to.
