Abstract

883,303. Root crop harvesters. BRITISH SOCIETY FOR RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING. April 21, 1960 [Jan. 21, 1959], No. 2308/59. Class 6(3). A root crop harvester comprises a share 7 arranged to oscillate horizontally in a direction which is transverse to the direction of travel of the harvester. The harvester comprises a frame 1 mounted on a tractor and supporting two vertical columns 3 which contain bearings for rotatable shafts 5, the shafts 5 being connected at their lower ends to the share 7 by links 6. One shaft 5 is connected at its upper end by means of a level 16 and a connecting rod 14, to an eccentric 13 mounted on a crankshaft 11 which is driven from a motor 9 mounted on the frame 1. The link 6 attached to this shaft 5 will accordingly be oscillated and cause the share 7 to move in the direction indicated by arrows 20. A riddling conveyer (not shown), situated behind the share 7, is also driven from the crankshaft 11.
