Abstract

1,058,213. Root-crop harvesters. A. T. HEEMSKERK. May 6, 1964, No. 18906/64. Heading A1F. A root-crop harvester comprises a share 4 for digging the crop and transferring it to a conveyer, the share being united at its rear end with a grid of longitudinal rods 6 and the conveyer consisting of a series of rotary rollers 10 extending transversely and each carrying a row of circumferential resilient studs 11, the studs of adjacent rollers being staggered, and means being provided for vibrating the shovel and grid longitudinally. Behind the conveyer is a vibratory sieve 13 consisting of longitudinal bars, the sieve being supported on swing- ing levers 15 for longitudinal oscillation imparted by eccentrics 20 on a driven transverse shaft 19, the same eccentrics also driving the share and grid through a connecting rod 21. As shown, there are two shares 4 side-by-side, each share being preceded by a scraper-blade 8 of V-shape in plan. The device is mounted on groundwheels 2 and driven by a power take-off 16 which also drives the rollers 10 through a chain-drive (not shown) entraining sprockets on their outer ends.
