Abstract

883,296. Book protectors. WALLER, W. M., and WALLER, P. H. Dec. 13, 1957, No. 38920/57. Class 16 [Also in Group XVII] A booklet comprising leaves 1, Fig. 1, bound at one edge by staples &c. 3, and provided with opposed notches 4, is retained in a container or protector 6, Fig. 2, having a lip 9 under which the bound edge of the booklet is inserted, and tongues 10 which engage the notches 4. The leaves I may be of paper, fabric, plastic material &c. each having one face coated with rouge or other skin-preparation in dry form: they may be perforated at 2, and bound within a cover 5. The container 6 has one wall bent over to provide the lip 9, and the tongues 10 are struck-out portions of the side walls. A hinged lid 7 carries a mirror 13. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, the container is constructed as disclosed in Specification 783,181, and comprises a lid 7a which can slide along transverse guides 11 and be hinged back to expose the booklet. The booklet 1 can be located on the lid 7a by a flange 9 and tongues 10, or it can be similarly located in the bottom of the container. A mirror 13 is also provided. In further modifications, the lip or flange 9 may constitute a tear-off bar for the leaves 1 and be hinged and spring-loaded, and the tongues 10 may be replaced by V-shaped elements formed on or secured to the container.
