Abstract
883,125. Steam superheaters. COMBUSTION ENGINEERING Inc. June 7, 1960 [June 17, 1959], No. 19910/60. Class 123(3) A guide assembly, for maintaining the return bent tubes of each panel of a pendent superheater 14 in accurate alignment and in predetermined relationship while allowing relative axial movement to accommodate differential expansion between adjacent tubes, comprises an arcuate plate member 18 which is secured, e.g. to a tube 20, is received between two arms 22, 24 fixed to an adjacent tube 26, and is formed of upper and lower arcuately offset portions 28, 30 which have ridged portions 19 for welding at 36, 37 to the tube 20 and are interconnected by a weakened portion of reduced section. The arms 24, 22, secured to the pipe 26 by welding 40, have projections 25 which slidingly engage respectively behind the upper and lower plate portions 28, 30, the latter and upper and lower projections 27 on the arms 22 being provided with arcuate faces where they bear upon the surfaces of the respective tubes 26. 20.
