Abstract

882,934. Jigs. HAACKE, A. March 26, 1959 [April 2, 1958], No. 10708/59. Class 82(2). The boundaries between the layers of minerals separating in a jigging machine are enlarged to form a layer of measurable depth by adding a granular material, the specific gravity of which corresponds to the specific gravity of separation. As shown, two or more kinds of granular materials may be used more than two minerals. The layers of added granular materials may be divided into two parts as shown at 19, one part accompanying the lighter mineral, and the other accompanying the heavier, or it may be split up as at 16 and 17 into a fraction which comprises the bulk of the added layer, and boundary zones accompanying the separated minerals. The added material may be recovered from the minerals by magnetic, electrostatic or size separation.
