Abstract

882,850. Press-button retractive switches; contact-members for switches. CONTROLS CO. OF AMERICA. Jan. 25, 1960 [May 27, 1959], No. 2568/60. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXII] A snap-action switch comprises three planar terminal members 10, 12, 14, mounted in a common plane and a snap-action blade mounted on one terminal 10 and movable between contacts 20, 22 on the other terminals. The terminals are stamped from a metal strip together with terminals for similar switches (Fig. 3) and silver contacts 20, 22 peened into slots in the terminals (Fig. 4). The top web is then removed (Fig. 5) and a plastic body 16 moulded around each set of terminals (Fig. 6), plastic flowing through holes 42 in the terminals. The lower web is then removed (Fig. 7) and the body portions 16 severed from each other. A multiple switch may be constructed by placing switches side by side, lugs and holes 69 on adjacent switch bodies interlocking, and a bolt through holes 68 securing the assembly. For low current use the contacts 20, 22 may be merely terminal projections formed by stamping, or circular slugs may be peened into appropriate slots.
